The one-sided practices dominating the early portions of training camp have faded in favor of more competitive matchups. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo was solid, throwing a pair of touchdowns but came close to committing his first turnover of the summer. More on that below. Here’s our stock report after Day 7 of the 49ers training camp:Stock up: WR Jalen HurdThe 49ers have eased Hurd into action as he absorbs the nuances of both the receiver position and the pace of professional football. Saturday was a step in the right direction with Hurd showing well during 1-on-1 drills in the red zone, out-muscling cornerbacks for the ball. He also was the focus of a sweep play where he turned the ball upfield for a big gain. It was easy to see how Hurd, at 6-feet-5-inches, would be tough to bring down as a former running back with a full head of steam.Stock down: S Jaquiski TarttTartt’s inclusion isn’t a major indictment, but we couldn’t pass up an opportunity to offer some friendly criticism of the 49ers’ starting strong safety for dropping an easy interception, an interception that would’ve been the first of camp for Garoppolo. Tartt made an excellent play https://www.49ersfanshop.com/Robbie-Gould-Jersey , reading Garoppolo and cutting off rookie receiver Deebo Samuel over the middle. The pass hit Tartt square in the chest, but he just couldn’t hang on.Stock up: RB Tevin ColemanColeman has been the 49ers’ lead back through the first seven practices of training camp. He’s shown well as both a runner and pass-catcher while developinga solid rapport with Garoppolo. On Saturday, Coleman took a run to the outside that was initially stuffed. He cut back inside and then immediately back out for a huge gain up the left sideline. It was a rare big play for a 49ers offense that’s struggled on the ground against the defense’s talented front.Stock down: LB Malcolm SmithSmith signed a five-year, $26.5 million contract with the 49ers in 2017. This offseason, the 49ers voided the last two years of that deal, re-signing Smith to a revised contract worth up to $1.5 million in 2019. Smith’s $4.2 million in dead money essentially guarantees him a roster this season. He’s spent most of his time at “SAM” linebacker through camp, a rotational role alongside linebackers Fred Warner Reuben Foster Jersey , Kwon Alexander and rookie Dre Greenlaw, the latter of which has stood out through camp. Smith was the victim of a George Kittle touchdown on Saturday; the 49ers tight end leaped up and over the linebacker to reel in a pass from Garoppolo.Stock up: CB K’Waun WilliamsWilliams has been a consistent contributor through camp. He’s authored plenty of impressive battles against the 49ers’ wideouts, particularly Trent Taylor in the slot. Williams was sent on a blitz during the team portion of practice and was able to beat coverage and sack quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. The 49ers’ nickel cornerback is one of the defense’s most dependable players, rarely on the wrong side of any play. Stock up: TE Ross DwelleyDwelley has established himself as the primary backup at tight end behind Kittle. The back surgery Garrett Celek underwent in the offseason Garrett Celek isn’t returning anytime soon, having undergone back surgery that is expected to sideline the veteran tight end well into the season. Dwelley has taken advantage of the opportunity, earning a role in Shanahan’s offense that garners him multiple targets every practice. Today, Dwelley reeled in a deep Garoppolo pass on the right side of the field for 30-plus yards. Currently Ahkello Witherspoon Color Rush Jersey , it seems Kittle, Dwelley, and Kaden Smith are the favorites to land on the final roster. Some post free agency power rankings that are way too early but we’ll check them out anyways" Nothing like starting the day off with a mock draft and some power rankings. They maybe worthless but they give us good talking points. Whether it’s seeing where certain players may be drafted, or where our beloved San Francisco 49ers fall amongst the other teams in the NFL. ESPN released a way too early power rankings recently, so let’s see what our pal Nick Wagoner had to say:The Niners definitely chose to roll the dice in free agency. Betting on talent and not history. Most of the gambles that they made were high rewards. If there are backups in place, it’s not a terrible strategy. The 49ers were ranked 22nd in the power rankings. As for the rest of the NFC West, the Arizona Cardinals were 32nd https://www.49ersfanshop.com/C.-J.-Beathard-Jersey , the Seattle Seahawks were 12th, and the Los Angeles Rams were second. The Kool-Aid for the Cleveland Browns is going down smooth. They cracked the top 10. Any other surprises here?
